Why Choose Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is a science-based approach that looks at how systems in the body are functioning together. It focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease, rather than just managing symptoms. By integrating functional medicine into our acupuncture practice, we are able to create more comprehensive, individualized care plans for patients who need deeper support.

Why Combine Acupuncture with Functional Medicine?

Chronic conditions often require ongoing, supportive care—not just a one-time protocol or supplement plan. Weekly acupuncture sessions provide regular, in-person time with your provider to check in, address new or evolving symptoms, and adjust your plan in real-time.

Acupuncture also:

  • Regulates the nervous system and reduces chronic stress

  • Improves circulation, digestion, hormone balance, and inflammation

  • Enhances the body’s ability to process and respond to functional medicine protocols

  • Provides consistent weekly support while deeper root causes are being addressed

This integrative model allows us to take action on multiple levels—helping you feel better sooner, while still addressing the root cause.

  • How many sessions will I need?
Healing is a process, and the number of sessions needed varies from person to person. After your initial Functional Health & Acupuncture Session, your provider will create a personalized Health Improvement Plan that includes recommendations for how often you should receive acupuncture and what follow-up care may be helpful. In general: Acupuncture is typically recommended weekly, especially in the beginning, with most individuals benefiting from 6 to 12 sessions. The exact frequency and duration will depend on your specific condition, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. If you've completed lab testing, we recommend booking a Lab Interpretation Session or a Lab Interpretation & Consultation. During that visit, we’ll review your results in depth and provide an updated plan tailored to your needs.
  • How long does it take to see results?
This depends on your individual case and how long you’ve been experiencing symptoms. Most patients begin to notice changes within the first few weeks of implementing their plan, but lasting results often take several months of consistent care.
  • I'm Already an Acupuncture Patient—How Do I Start Functional Medicine Services?
If you’re currently receiving acupuncture and are interested in adding Functional Medicine, here’s how to get started: If your new concerns are different from what you're currently being treated for and require a full assessment, we recommend booking the: Initial Functional Health & Acupuncture Session This includes a deep dive into your health history, review of past labs, a personalized plan, and an acupuncture treatment. If your provider is already familiar with your case, they may be able to recommend functional lab testing after your next acupuncture session. Once labs are completed, you can choose from the following options: Lab Interpretation & Protocol (No Consult) – $150 Not covered by insurance Includes: Functional analysis of lab results (optimal range interpretation) A personalized supplement and nutrition plan PDF summary delivered via email 30-Minute Consult (No Lab Review) – $125 Not covered by insurance Includes: In-person or virtual session Ideal for reviewing progress, refining your plan, or Q&A Does not include lab review Bundle Option: Lab Review + 30-Minute Consult – $225 Not covered by insurance Includes: Full lab interpretation Personalized protocol 30-minute consult to go over results and discuss your treatment plan If you’re unsure which to book, reach out to our office and we’ll be happy to guide you based on your current care plan.
