Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an effective form of healthcare that has been around for thousands of years. It is a form of traditional Chinese Medicine that includes modalities such as cupping, moxibustion, Chinese herbology, and gua sha. It is cost-effective and low risk. Acupuncture aims to bring the body back to homeostasis. Acupuncture Physicians use fine, sterile single-use needles to put into specific points on the body. Acupuncture works by stimulating the body's immune response. Our bodies were created to have the ability to heal themselves; acupuncture gives the body a push in that direction.  The needles also affect the nerves and local tissues; the needle stimulates nerve endings in the area it is placed into which causes a release in chemical substances. One of these chemicals increases blood flow to specific areas. Blood flow carries all the oxygen and nutrients that our body needs to recover and repair. This process also helps in the removal of waste products, and in return, promotes healing and overall function. The needles also signal to release the bodies' natural painkilling substances like endorphins and enkephalins.
Most people feel very relaxed and fall asleep during treatment. Acupuncture helps put the body into the parasympathetic mode, which is where our bodies rest and repair. Most often, we are stressed and are in a constant state of sympathetic "fight or flight" mode, which can be detrimental for our health.
Acupuncture generally consist of a series of treatment.
