Your treatment may involve one or multiple modalities

Acupuncture is an effective form of healthcare that has been around for thousands of years. It is a form of traditional Chinese Medicine that includes modalities such as cupping, moxibustion, Chinese herbology, and gua sha. It is cost-effective and low risk. Acupuncture aims to bring the body back to homeostasis. Acupuncture Physicians use fine, sterile single-use needles to put into specific points on the body. Acupuncture works by stimulating the body's immune response. Our bodies were created to have the ability to heal themselves; acupuncture gives the body a push in that direction.  The needles also affect the nerves and local tissues; the needle stimulates nerve endings in the area it is placed into which causes a release in chemical substances. One of these chemicals increases blood flow to specific areas. Blood flow carries all the oxygen and nutrients that our body needs to recover and repair. This process also helps in the removal of waste products, and in return, promotes healing and overall function. The needles also signal to release the bodies' natural painkilling substances like endorphins and enkephalins.
Most people feel very relaxed and fall asleep during treatment. Acupuncture helps put the body into the parasympathetic mode, which is where our bodies rest and repair. Most often, we are stressed and are in a constant state of sympathetic "fight or flight" mode, which can be detrimental for our health.
Acupuncture generally consist of a series of treatment.

Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine looks at getting to the root of the issue. Depending on your diagnosis from your Acupuncture Physician, they will prescribe you a formula containing several herbs consisting of different plants, extracts, or minerals. IWC  offers Evergreen formulas that provide a root-level attack rather than a symptom cover. These herbs are tested 15 times before they reach our patients. They follow the standards set forth by the World Health Organization and the United States FDA. We also support the three steps to wellness. 1. Symptomatic Care 2. Corrective Care 3. Prophylactic Care.

Cupping is an ancient healing tradition that dates back thousands of years.  During a cupping session, the practitioner will place a plastic or glass cup to the appropriate area and create suction under the cup.
Cupping draws stagnant blood and other fluids that are no longer part of healthy circulation up to the skin and away from the injury to restore circulation to the injured area. It creates space for oxygen, living cells, and nutrients needed for the healing process. The capillary system of the skin carries the toxins to the liver and kidneys, where they are then metabolized and excreted.
Cupping is used for the common cold, coughs, muscle tension, pain, swelling, and injuries.  Cupping may leave a painless bruise-like mark that disappears within a few days.

Acupuncture Injection Therapy

Acupuncture Injection Therapy is an injection of a vitamin into an acupuncture point. Injections of Vitamin b12 can help boost the immune system and help with fatigue.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a manual technique that works great for pain and stiffness.  A metal or plastic tool is rubbed on the skin, generally following the muscles and acupuncture channels. This helps with circulation, muscle adhesions, scar tissue, muscle tightness, swelling, and pain. Similar to the cupping, gua sha can leave temporary red marks on the skin. Gua means scraping, and sha is the petechiae that comes up from the scraping.
